The major cause of divorce can be summed up in one word: Selfishness. You and Ed found the basic meaning of life. #1 Serving God. #2. Serving others through Him. What a way to go! You're right, it's not easy to die to "self." But suffering is a part of the journey through this wilderness we call "life." Look what Jesus had to suffer to purchase us, or to " save us all from Satan's pow'r when we were gone astray, " or, when we were slaves to sin because Adam and Eve the first parents gave in to the devil in The Garden of Eden. God had supplied Adam and Eve with all they could ever desire, but it wasn't enough for them. But thank God, we're free from the bondage to sin! We've been translated from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of God's dear Son - through the shed blood of Jesus Christ ( Col 1:13) and now we're free to continue to be conformed to the image of Christ to serve people on His behalf!
